Regular service plays a vital role in maintaining the bike’s legendary performance and keeping essential safety features and systems operating as designed. To make it easy, we recommend riders keep on top of their Harley-Davidson® Road Glide®’s health with the following general service and maintenance guidelines applicable to most model years (for the most up-to-date and specific intervals, always consult your owner’s manual or contact Harley-Davidson® or our dealership directly):
- Initial Service at 1,000 Miles: Break-in inspection, oil & filter change, critical fastener checks, and overall systems review.
- Every 5,000 Miles: Engine oil and filter change, primary chaincase oil change, clutch adjustment, brake system check, controls and safety inspection.
- Every 10,000 Miles: Transmission fluid change, spark plug inspection or replacement, suspension check, and comprehensive belt and tire inspection.
- Every 20,000 Miles: Thorough fork and steering head bearing inspection, coolant system (if equipped) check, and fuel system review.
- Annually or as Needed: Battery and charging system test, lights and electrical system check, plus detail cleaning and waxing to protect finishes.
